Continental explores pyrolysis technology for rubber recycling
The Germany-based supplier aims to enhance rubber recycling through advanced pyrolysis, recovering high-quality materials and reducing reliance on fossil resources.
Continental is advancing the use of pyrolysis technology for rubber recycling through the acquisition of an exclusive patent family and the launch of a new pilot facility in Hanover, Germany. This initiative marks the first time Continental is exploring the industrial potential of pyrolysis technology on a large scale. The process developed by ContiTech involves breaking down waste rubber to recover high-quality raw materials, notably a purified pyrolysis oil, to replace fossil resources.
