Carfax says backup camera recalls surge as nearly 7 million vehicles remain unfixed

Data show blank, distorted or lagging rearview images behind many defects, with Texas and California leading unresolved cases

US-based used-car history provider Carfax, part of S&P Global Mobility and a company that owns the world’s largest vehicle-history database, has revealed that backup camera-related recalls in the US have climbed by more than a million and a half since the start of 2026.
